Promise Continued through the Patriarchs – Part 2 – Acts 7

7 – 9 April 2024

Stephen’s ‘OT History’ 101

📝 Overview:

The new covenant through Jesus rendered some of the old convent obsolete and Stephen was bringing this to light. Therefore he was accused of speaking again Moses, the law and the temple (Acts6)

In Acts 7 Stephen responds to the accusations made against him. He starts by reminding his accusers that:

• God made a covenant with Abraham – no law nor was a temple built.

• He reminds them that while their people where slaves in Egypt, without the law or the temple they were STILL God’s chosen people.

• He also reminds them that God didn’t ask Moses to build a temple, He asked for a tabernacle. Anyone who values the temple more than the Messiah is an idolater.

💭 Something to think about:

• Steven was bold when he was brought before the authorities, because he spoke the truth.

• Steven also used the opportunity he had to witness to people about Jesus.

• Let us also ask God to give us boldness to share the gospel of the Good News
