Promise Continued through the Patriarchs – Part 1 – Genesis 26 – 27

3 – 6 March

Promise to Isaac; Jacob-Esau

📝 Overview:

Genesis 26 : Gods Promise to Isaac.
God gives instruction to Isaac and promises to bless him – God also promises to establish the oath He swore to Abraham (Genesis 26:4) However, Isaac still had many trials and challenges – it felt like doors closed on him everywhere he went BUT he continued to listen to God and follow the plan.

Genesis 27: Sibling rivalry.
Jacob deceives Isaac and steals the blessing that was intended for Esau, who was the first born(Gen 27:35) Esau is so angry, he wows to kill his brother Jacob, he forgets his own wrongdoing in giving away his birthright (Genesis 25: 29-34)

💭 Something to think about:

Genesis 26 – Think about a time when doors seemed to be shut to you but you later discovered that it was God setting you up for something better.

Genesis 27 – Is there something you feel belonged to you but someone else benefited from it? How does that make you feel? If you have not forgiven that person – take time to bring it before God and make the effort to reconcile a broken relationship.
